It is with a great sense of confidence that I write this last message to you the members, friends and supporters of the People’s Action Movement before the historic general election of 2010.
I am confident because I know that the visionary and comprehensive plans outlined in the groundbreaking manifestos of our Party for both the Federation as a whole and the youth in particular will gain the support of the vast majority of the electorate.
As we have rallied with you over the last eighteen (18) months in what will undoubtedly prove to be the hardest longest and most important election in our history we have been able to develop a relationship of trust that will serve both the people and the new PAM government as we navigate the immanent and momentous change.
I wish to express the heartfelt gratitude of me and my team for the unwavering support of thousands of faithful supporters who have braved the elements, threats of violence in Old Road and elsewhere and frustration as we waited for the bell to ring.
As we come to the end of this long and difficult road I know that we have all grown in love for our country and a deep desire to do the work to lift it out of the terrible pit into which it has been sunk by the outgoing Labour government.
The battle is not yet over. As we saw on polling day in 2004 this Labour government will stop at nothing in its attempt to subvert the will of the people to elect a government of their choice. We have seen the tricks; attempt to change the boundaries, the corruption of the voters list, the provocation of the outgoing Prime Minister telling people from St. Pauls that they have work to do in all the constituencies so we know that we have to be vigilant and protect our right to vote and our democracy.
We have heard of the other tricks like the mysterious island constables that we still as yet do not know anything about but we cannot be afraid.
It is up to each of us to ensure that each of us votes and that all votes are counted fairly. We know that Denzil Douglas has too much to lose in this election. We also know that we cannot afford another term of his corrupt, dictatorial rule or our children will have no future.
Let us all go bravely and make the CHANGE!
